What the Heck Kind of Name is "Darguz"?
Hey -- don't ask me! Ask Terry Kim Riley, a college friend of mine and Dungeons and Dragons co-conspirator. He invented the name for a D&D character of his. I thought the name sounded cool, and when I started getting into BBSes years ago, I used it as a "handle". The original spelling was Darguze, but I decided to drop the 'e'. Apparently everyone else thought it sounded cool too, because it stuck to me like one of those boogers where you flick and flick but you just can't get it off your finger. My friends started calling me Darguz even in person. So, I've kept it ever since. I especially like it because I like unique things, and unique it is. In my BBS days, there were countless Starmasters and Dark Knights, but only one Darguz. However, in theory, if a thousand monkeys typed randomly on a thousand typewriters for a thousand years, at some point they would most likely type the name "Darguz". Well, the Internet is kind of like that, and so it is that, on the 'Net, once or twice I have been unable to use it as a user name because it was already in use. I have to wonder if it isn't Kim or one of our other D&D buddies from those days.

By the way, the 'z' is soft -- it's pronounced "DAR-gus".
