Nits for Star Trek: Deep Space Nine episode
Treachery, Faith and the Great River
1. Al Lorenzo of Dagos Prime??
Maybe the word "dago" doesn't mean what it meant when I was a kid, but I distinctly recall it being an ethnic slur. My dictionary still lists it as a disparaging description for someone of Italian and/or Spanish descent.
I'd like to believe the writers didn't have this in mind when they wrote the story and teleplay but with a name like "Lorenzo" being combined with the word "Dagos" I'm afraid this is a coincidence I can't ignore.
Nit Value: 1.00 (I expect better from Trek than this)
2. Powering down the runabout.
Despite the repeated claims of Odo that the runabout was powered down, we see plenty of displays lit up. If power was turned off what kept the displays lit?
Nit Value: 0.50
3. Three Card Monte.
The idea of hiding a runabout in a comet fragment is a neat effect. But it doesn't hold any water if you are trying to evade detection. The Jem'Hadar have three methods of detecting the runabout: metallic alloy of the ship's hull, the trail left by the runabout's engines, and life-signs. Any one of those methods would detect the runabout's whereabouts (I finally got to say that ;-).
Nit Value: 0.50
