Nits for Star Trek: Voyager episode
Bride of Chaotica

1. Alien clothing.

Isn't it a little strange that the aliens arrived in clothing appropriate for the 1930s? The holodeck controls were offline, so who provided the wardrobe (or do these photonic fashions happen to be in vogue in the photonic universe?)

Nit Value: 0.25

2. Avoiding weapon's fire.

When the robot guides Tuvok and Tom to the portals, the aliens open fire with photonic-based weapons. So how did they dodge the shots (or do the photonic marksman suffer from bad vision)?

Nit Value: 0.50

3. Communicators.

Why didn't the crew who went back into the holodeck wear comm badges so Voyager could listen in and beam out anyone who was having trouble?

Nit Value: 0.25

4. The plan.

Granted, the plan they executed was more entertaining. But why didn't an armed security detail simply beam into Chaotica's throne room and destroy all the equipment? Harry showed that they could select the coordinates when he used the Astrometric Lab's viewscreen to look in on Chaotica.

Nit Value: 0.25

5. That infernal holodeck.

Where is the plug??? Phasers fired at the walls of the holodeck certainly would have crashed the grid. But where is the independent power source? Certainly not in the holodeck itself, hidden behind whichever holographic image they want to shut down but can't because they can't find the power source.

Nit Value: 0.50

6. Choice of weapons.

To pad the length of the story, Janeway chooses to use a ray gun rather than the pheromone. She is trapped in a containment field by Chaotica. In the following scene she is chained to the pillar by the throne.

How did this happen? Janeway has a ray gun, a vial of pheromones, and her own Star Fleet hand-to-hand combat training. And she is immune to the affects of the holographic ray guns.

Why didn't she use the pheromones when she had the chance (and there were several).

Nit Value: 0.50
