Nits for Star Trek: Voyager episode
Counterpoint

1. Ten minutes to get out of range.

Hard to tell what Tom meant. The detection range is ten light years and the wormhole was only 8.6 light years away from Voyager's original position. So the wormhole should be rather close to the detection array. This whole business about the detection array seems forced and poorly explained.

Nit Value: 0.50

2. Where are Kashyk's guards?

After they find out they have six hours till the Devore reach them, Kathryn and Kashyk walk the halls towards Engineering. But the guards for Kashyk are missing.

Nit Value: 0.25

3. The conclusion.

To be honest, this didn't bother me as much as it might have on a poor story. Kashyk let them all go because he feared the repercussions of his inability to catch the refugees. But he had Voyager and its advanced technology, the crew who were very skilled with this technology, and three telepaths (Tuvok, Vorik, and Geralt). Furthermore, he has already revealed sensitive information regarding weapons, schedules, and shielding of Devore ships. He's provided a lot of technical information to Voyager and apparently is allowing them to go free with that information.

Yet he claims he's worried about protecting his people from a very real threat.

This is a contradiction. If he's so worried about threats to his people then he must know he can't let Voyager leave with the information it needs to defeat a Devore ship. If he's worried about his career he wouldn't have given the information unless ordered to by his superiors.

And Prax has no reason to cover up the mistakes made by his commander.

But since we don't know just how severe the punishment might be for being tricked we must assume releasing Voyager was the right thing to do to stay alive.

Nit Value: 0.25 (for the clumsiness of the ending)
